Notable featuresThe 10 storey building was Melbournes tallest when built, just slightly smaller than the nearby Australian building (13 storeys). The tower originally featured a complex undulating Mannerist facade crowned by several picturesque features on the skyline, including a high mansard roof. Finks Building was a spectacularly tall office building from the boom of the 1880s was consumed by one of Melbournes biggest fires, which decimated almost an entire city block. In response to the fire, and the emerging hazard that such tall buildings caused, the Metropolitain Fire Brigade was formed shortly afterfward. Rebuilt a few years later and finally demolished in the 1960s
